Good Afternoon One and All:
First off, I want to thank all attendees for participating so vigorously in this past Monday's discussion; it was a blast to have everyone on the same page when it came to enjoying the novel. Personally, I loved rereading the book and am pleased that everyone felt the same way (Shout-out to Anthony who could not attend but made a point of telling me that he liked it).
I likened "The Road to Roswell" as a buddy movie meets western meets sci-fi fun. It a little bit for everyone it seems. We all were unified in greatly liking Indy, though we were a bit divided on his age, with a majority saying that he acted very impulsively, very young. But the character growth, not just with Indy, but with all of the characters was very well done, progressing naturally over the time they spent together. However, though the communication issued between the kidnappees and Indy did progress a bit fast and a little too neatly, this was rather necessary for movement in the plot and helped the readers to identify with Indy (who is awesome).
Finally, we all truly enjoyed the writing style of Connie Willis; it was very engaging and funny and yet also capable of portraying pathos. We all agreed that it would make a great 8 - 12 episode miniseries on tv.
We moderators are glad that everyone had fun reading the book, even those who were unable to attend the discussion.
See you all next month!
