July Reading - "Defy the Stars"

Hope Everyone had a great Fourth of July weekend!

We are closing in on the longest day of the year, so we are introducing the first book in a teen science fiction trilogy this month. Continuing our tradition of branching out into new authors, sub-genres & age demographics, we present "Defy the Stars" by Claudia Gray, the first book in her "Defy the Stars Trilogy".

Author Bio: Claudia Gray is an American author, best known for her young adult "Evernight" series and her Star Wars novels: "Lost Stars" - "Bloodline" - "Leia, Princess of Alderaan" and novels set during the High Republic; she has also written three adult mystery novels set in the world of Jane Austen, entitled: "Mr. Darcy & Miss Tilney Mystery Series".

Summary: "Defy the Stars" begins the clash between the citizens of the colony planet Genesis as they fight for their independence against Earth and its colonists whom they fear will destroy their home much as they destroyed the dying Earth. Into this fight comes Noemi, a soldier fighting for Genesis and Abel, one of Earth's robotic mech warriors. Though Abel is bound by his programming to follow Noemi's orders, she soon comes to realize that he might be more than his programming and this new type of AI might just be key to the survival of her people and her planet's survival

Author: Claudia Gray

Info:  "Defy the Stars" is a teen dystopian novel about Nemi (a soldier fighting to defend her home planet of Genesis against the colonists from Earth) and Abel (a robotic mech warrior from Earth) with an uneasy relationship, especially as Abel begins to exceed his AI parameters.
